Welcome from the Dean

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is one of 16 academic units at IUPUI, a leading urban research institution. SHRS has a long and distinguished record of offering nationally recognized programs and preparing students for practice in the field of health and rehabilitation in the State of Indiana and beyond. Currently, the School offers Ph.D. in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics, Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, Doctor of Physical Therapy, and Master of Science in Therapeutic Outcomes Research. Also housed in the School is the Indiana Center for Rehabilitation Sciences and Engineering Research. The hallmark of SHRS is its tradition of engaging in on-going quality improvement and student outcome assessment and its commitment to delivering high quality education, meeting the health care needs of the State of Indiana and the nation, and contributing to knowledge through translational research.

Our School is proactive in its response to the increasing demand for qualified health and rehabilitation professionals by offering selected health and rehabilitation sciences degree programs, recruiting a diverse and talented student body, recruiting a cadre of diverse and nationally recognized faculty, and creating a vibrant environment for learning, intellectual discovery, and scholarship. The School acknowledges that students must have appropriate cultural competence to work with diverse populations and to make meaningful contributions in a dynamic and complex health care environment.
