Dietetic Internship Admission Requirements

  1. Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and must submit GRE scores.
  2. Applicants must meet current educational standards of the American Dietetic Association.
  3. Preference will be given to applicants with an Academic GPA at or above 3.0 (A = 4.) overall. Minimum cumulative grade point average which will be considered is 2.9 (A = 4). Minimum grade point average for course work in the major is 3.0 (A = 4.0). All science grades must be C or better. Note: If the application includes work completed more than 5 years ago, grades more than 5 years old will be less heavily weighted.
  4. The equivalent of one summer's (3 months) professionally related work experience in either a health care facility, community-based program or food service is required.
  5. Applicants who completed their degrees more than five years ago must have taken an upper level diet therapy course, intended for nutrition majors, within the last two years to be eligible for admission into the Dietetic Internship Program.

Sixteen (16) applicants will be accepted for the 2010-2011 class.

The Nutrition & Dietetics Department Dietetic Internship Program at the Indiana University School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is currently granted accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association.  CADE is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Commission on Recognition of Postsecondary Accreditation and the United States Department of Education.  The address and phone number of CADE are:  216 W. Satisfactory completion of the Dietetic Internship Program allows the student to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians.
